Playing at E3 2012 with Kyle and Lara was such an amazing experience and I really hope we have the opportunity to get together again like that in the future. It was a really busy week and it all went by so fast. As soon as we all arrived in LA, we immediately started practicing and arranging our concerts. Sometimes we used sheet music, and some of the arrangements we made up by ear. Once the expo started, we played a total of 10 concerts (3 Tues, 4 Weds, 3 Thurs) each about 45 minutes to an hour long, all featuring video game music. We tried to put together arrangements in which all 3 of us were able to play at the same time together, although we mixed up which instruments were featured throughout the concerts so that everything was equally balanced. You might see some videos where Kyle and I are performing without Lara, and the only reason for that was that Lara became sick halfway through the expo and had to miss a few concerts =( For those concerts, Kyle and I just literally sightread a bunch of pieces haha, and for the most part it went pretty well =) Thankfully Lara powered through and was awesome regardless; it wasn’t the same without her!
It was so exciting playing with Kyle and Lara because they are both such accomplished musicians. They’re also both great at improvising, which is something that I also love to do as well but don’t often have the chance to do with others. Some of the songs we played were different arrangements each concert because we were improvising on the spot during the concert, and to me that was really enjoyable. Besides being so talented, they’re also both genuinely nice people and very fun to be around. I’ve never had more fun playing with other musicians =)
Because we were pretty much constantly performing or practicing, we actually had very limited time to actually walk around and see the exhibits. I probably only spent about a half hour the entire time I was there checking things out, but from what I saw, it was a pretty incredible display and everyone seemed to be really enjoying themselves. Our stage was set up between the two main halls so that people who were walking from one exhibit hall to the other were able to stop and watch us perform, or just listen as they were passing through.
We were able to meet so many different people from the video game and music industry, and it was so incredible to me how nice everyone was. I always seem to hear how cutthroat the entertainment and music industries are, and while it’s sadly true in some cases, I found the exact opposite to be true with all of the people we met. Everyone was so nice and supportive of one another, and it was just great to see that people who were very talented and successful in their careers were still very kind and humble people. Whatever successes I enjoy in my career, I want to make sure that I always stay true to myself, respectful of others and remain humble.
As soon as we receive our video footage we’ll be posting it on our channels. I can’t wait to see the videos and share them with all of you! I also want to thank NVIDIA for the wonderful experience. Everyone from NVIDIA was so incredibly nice and treated us so well. We had such a lovely time getting to know each other and I really hope that we’ll be able to work with them again in the future. This was truly something I will remember for the rest of my life and I am so thankful for the experience!
Your passion inspires me and brings back vivid memories of years ago when I was married. Circumstances have changed and God practically placed a neon sign in front of me to change. So, it’s inspiring to see that someone like and your husband have centered yourselves and are being, and will continue to be, blessed.
I want to purchase your CD as a hard copy. Can you sign it for me?
Blessings, Mark
I Love your Music and Your Violin
Hey there just wanted to give you a quick heads up. The words in your post seem to be running off the screen in Opera.
I’m not sure if this is a format issue or something to do with web browser compatibility but I figured I’d post to
let you know. The design and style look great though!
Hope you get the issue solved soon. Kudos
Taylor,
I love this blog and I am sure you did an amazing job at the E3!! I cannot wait to see videos! Keep up the good work my friend! I miss you!

Chrissy
Wowie!! I know you did GREAT!
Jeez..do all you people live on the same street or something? ๐ Kyle+Taylor+Lara=EPICNESS!!!
Thanks so much! LOL I wish we all lived in the same place! Lara’s all the way in Australia though so it’s hard to get together often ๐
how you so good on violin?? i wish i could play violin, i’m just good on guitar ๐
I listened to all the E3 performances you guys posted on youtube! They were amazing! My school doesn’t have a string section, but you, as well as Laura, were my inspiration to try to learn! I wish I could have been there live ๐
Thank you, I’m glad you liked them! Aww I’m sorry your school doesn’t offer that, but you can definitely learn on your own too! I hope you get the chance to try it out, let me know if you have questions ๐
It’s the best time to make some plans for the future and it’s time to be happy.
I have read this post and if I could I wish to suggest you
some interesting things or advice. Maybe you can write next articles referring to this article.
I desire to read even more things about it!
I saw your presentation in youtube and you 3 where just awesome I was so amazed that certain people can have that much talent.
Sorry if theres a mistake in the grammar is that Iยดm from Colombia. ๐
Saw your e3 videos, very nice, you’re a great violonist
Glad to hear you guys stayed through and respected each other all the way. That certainly is the way it should be done. I am a musician myself, and my group even consist of family, and it’s really all about cutthroating the others to make yourself better with some of them. Really sad!
You guys certainly seemed to have a great time! :)I am doing some studies in film, maybe one day I can direct a movie and hire you guys to do some instrumental themes for me ๐
Hey Darth, thanks for the thoughtful comment. I totally know what you mean about people being cutthroat in music…it’s what turned me off of it for so many years. I used to play in youth symphonies and there was SO much of that amongst the players, really sad how it can be ruined from that kind of an attitude. I think it’s lovely when you can come together with others and just enjoy the experience of what you create together and not try to put yourself above it all. Good luck with your film studies, look us up when you’re a big time director! ๐
well done .Enjoy greatly..Look foward to the rest..the sound folks did a fine job on the sound.. I’ll be following you for some time to come..if you do any shows in my part of the country..i’ll be there..thank you all…
I’d been looking for footage of the performances, and found nothing. Guess I could’ve been patient a few weeks. Heh.
good morning and good night
Wish i could have been there!, cant wait for the video footage to come in!. Also you have a way of making your writing very interesting through out
good read.
